Occupant Consideration for Operation of Hydronic Systems – Low Flow Sections

During conditions of reduced building occupation or building closure CO suggests considering the following for hydronic systems:

Low Flow Sections - Low flow sections of piping may create problems in hydronic systems. Consider performing tests and analysis under varying load conditions to identify any low-flow sections. Typically, the flow should not be less than 2 feet per-second if this is the prescribed method of testing used. Additionally, consider modifying low flow sections through either controls or actual system redesign to
provide for higher flow rates.
